A brief illustrated history of the Lexington and West Cambridge Branch Railroad: its conception, birth, heyday, decline, death, and finally its rebirth as the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway, our nation’s 500th rail-trail and inspiration for many other rail-trails in the region.
Saturday, September 29, 11 AM – 3 PM, Visitors Center Lawn, 25 Years of Going Places on the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway
To mark the 25th anniversary of the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway, Arlington, Lexington, and Bedford will host a tri-town celebration of the popular rail-trail. Completed and dedicated by the three towns during 1992-93, the Minuteman’s success has inspired countless rail-trail and pathway projects in New England and beyond.
