Signs of Change, a Lexington Vintage Sign Exhibit

The transformation of Lexington from an agricultural community to a modern suburb is visible through the signs that have dotted the town’s landscape. Once a quiet farming community linked to Boston by a small railroad, Lexington was transformed into its current form by superhighways and housing developments. These signs represent 300 years of business, entertainment and everyday life Lexingtonians continually embrace the future while being mindful of their past.

1971 Vietnam War Protest Oral Histories

The Lexington Oral History Project was conducted in the 1990s to gather stories and memories of Lexington residents who were present during the spring of 1971. During this tumultuous time, Lexington saw anti-Vietnam War protests on the Battle Green. The project presents multiple perspectives of the events of that season as well as photographs of the interviewees and contextual information. For the best user experience, we recommend viewing the Lexington Oral History Project using Internet Explorer.
