Duties
Volunteer projects in the archives vary based on the Society’s needs and the interests of the volunteer. Volunteers scan and catalog documents and photographs, enter items into the database, and assist visiting researchers.
Location & Hours
The new Archives and Research Center is located directly behind the Munroe Tavern at 1332 Massachusetts Avenue. NOTE: The Center is currently closed while we pack and move the archives. It will open to volunteers and the public after fall 2019.
Volunteer hours are arranged with the Archives Manager, generally on weekdays.
Commitment
Volunteers receive training in archival procedures and in how to navigate the database. Because this training is quite substantial, volunteers are asked to make a long-term commitment of at least two hours per week, preferably on a consistent day.
Volunteers must be comfortable using a computer, and able to work independently, occasionally without supervision.
Questions?
Email Elizabeth Mubarek, Archives Manager.
Are you ready to volunteer?
Please fill out and submit the Volunteer Interest Form.
