Volunteer as a Greeter at Munroe Tavern
Picture
Picture
History
Built in 1735, this important tavern was taken over and used by the British troops on their retreat back to Boston in the afternoon of April 19, 1775.  Visitors have the opportunity to learn about the British perspective on the day’s events and see where President Washington dined when he visited Lexington and this tavern in 1789.

Duties
Munroe Tavern Greeters, who are paired with a house guide, welcome visitors from around the world, answer questions, sell admission tickets, and handle postcard and book sales.

Location & Hours
Munroe Tavern is located at 1332 Massachusetts Avenue.  In April and May, the tavern is open on weekends from 12 PM - 4 PM.  From Memorial Day through October, the tavern is open daily from 12 PM- 4 PM.

Tours are self-guided. The last entry is at 4 PM so Guides and Greeters may be on duty until 5 PM.

Commitment
Flexible, a monthly commitment of approximately 6 hours is greatly appreciated!
